My name is Maryam and I am a pure mathematics student. Currently me and my classmates are handling an educational camp called Wondermaths for our Social Engagement subject. What I hope to gain from this subject, I hope I can improve my soft skills because later during the camp I have to handle Form 4 students and seriously that will be my first experience being a facilitator. Besides soft skills, I hope I can be more responsible person. Every projects that I join I just a member but right now I am a treasurer. So I hope I can do my work properly and systematically. Lastly, I really hope that all of us can give full commitment and together all of us can get A.

Social engagement expectations? Hearing my coursemates plan to do program with students excites me but at the same time I knew it would be an exhausting preparation to be made because I had some experiences before. I cannot wait for it to happen, to see how it would be. I always miss the school vibes. The time when you enjoy everything and worry about nothing except only about your studies. Knowing that we will be teaching the SPM candidates besides doing activities with them makes me feel anxious. I hope the students will get and understand what we will try to teach. All the tips and techniques that are still in our mind hopefully can help them to deal with the tough questions later. I’m looking forward to carrying out the activities with the students and supportive friends I have.

We all know that we must sacrifice a bit of our mid semester break, but after all it is all the experiences and the memories you will have that make you feel motivated to come back earlier to college. This is for the sake of our grades too isn’t it? So, what I feel is that we should put the very best effort to accomplish this task. I hope, when the day comes, everyone will have the same positive vibes. I pray for this project to be successful and the most important thing is for everyone to have a heart that willingly and enthusiastically wanting to help the students apart from finishing this project. In my opinion, through social engagement we can learn a lot of things. This project requires the students to do a lot of activities or modules. Therefore, I think it can act as the best platform for the students and also for myself to improve our soft skills such as communication skills and social skills. Besides, the students can also enhance their thinking skills critically as there are quite a lot of activities that require their thinking skills. 'Social engagement' is a very good platform for students to sharpen their soft skills in certain areas such as time management, event planning, teamwork and also learning many new things from others. As for myself, I learned how to make a blog and spent some time reading and watching tutorials on YouTube about creating a blog. From our 'WonderMaths', I expect to learn a lot of things from both of my course mates and also the students from the school. I expect to have a good time with the students as we enjoy our times with the games and activities that was well-planned by my course mates. Kudos to them, I was truthfully amazed by their ideas in planning games and activities for the event so that the students can have a good time with us as well as gain benefits and something to learn from our games and activities. I truly hope through social engagement, the bonding between my coursemates and I will strengthen after this and also gain benefits from it.

Throughout this project, I expect everyone will gain more experiences as every project has their own challenges and planned in different ways. I hope before this project starts, everyone has set their own goals. I know this project itself has set the objectives but if we could not achieve the objectives, at least we have achieved our own goals. For instance, I hope everyone will know how to handle and teach the students to understand some concepts in Mathematics and at the same time, we enjoy doing this activities together.

Benefits that will be obtained by the students are, first, they will understand clearly about certain topics that we think it is easy for them to get marks. Next, they will feel confident to answer Mathematics question paper after this. At the end of the day, they will realise Mathematics can be learned in the easiest and fun way.
